PRODUCT DETAILS

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Ceramic Coat Rims is a versatile, transparent protective coating designed for professional rim and wheel sealing on all vehicles. It is suitable for matte- and gloss-painted, powder-coated, or unpainted surfaces.

The integrated PSR technology relies on an advanced polymer-SiO₂ resin system that, upon curing, forms a highly durable, dirt-resistant, and extremely flexible protective layer. The formulation was specifically developed to meet the demanding mechanical and thermal requirements of the wheel area. In addition to extremely high heat resistance, the special resin reliably protects the surface against chemical etching caused by leaked brake fluid. Even at higher film thicknesses, the material retains its elasticity, effectively preventing cracking or flaking of the coating under load.

APPLICATION

Manual Application:

  • Thoroughly clean the surface with Surface Cleaner Ultima, then neutralize using Surface Cleaner Neutra.
  • Wrap an application towel around the applicator block.
  • Apply approx. 15–20 drops of Ceramic Coat Rims onto the application towel and spread rapidly. A visible, even film must form.
  • Work in small sections to prevent premature drying.
  • Allow the product to flash off for approx. 1–3 minutes, depending on application quantity, humidity, and ambient temperature.
  • Wipe off excess residue using the first Special Coating Towel. Start with the edges, then work from the outside in using straight, rapid motions.
  • Buff the surface with a second fresh Special Coating Towel using circular motions from the outside in without applying heavy pressure.
  • If streaking remains visible, use another fresh towel and repeat the process. Inspect the result using an appropriate light source.
  • A second layer can be applied after 20 minutes. Re-coating should occur within 35 minutes at the latest.
Fine Spray Method:

The airbrush or fine spray method must exclusively be used on glossy wheel surfaces. The following specifications apply to the fine spray method on glossy rims:

  • Use an airbrush gun with a 0.3 mm (maximum 0.4 mm) nozzle.
  • Use 100% clean, dry, and oil-free compressed air only.
  • If using a compressor, a refrigerated dryer and oil separator are strictly required.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during the entire process.
  • Contaminants in compressed air can cause a premature reaction, resulting in a matte, rough surface finish.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight.

Nozzle specifications, compressed air quality, refrigeration dryer, oil separator, and PPE requirements match the fine spray guidelines.

Notes on high-gloss compacted rims:

Ceramic Coat Rims can be used on high-gloss coated and high-gloss compacted rims. For comprehensive protection against chemical and environmental influences, a dry film thickness of approx. 5 µm is recommended. This can only be achieved via a spray application method. Note that this may slightly alter the gloss characteristics of high-gloss compacted surfaces.

Note after use:

Surfaces treated with protective coatings should generally be cleaned as gently as possible to avoid damaging or removing the product layer. Avoid harsh cleaning detergents with high pH levels or heavy solvent content. We recommend using a pH-neutral wheel cleaner.

DURABILITY

A single layer of Ceramic Coat Rims offers a durability of approx. 30–36 months (hand wash). Each additional layer increases durability by an additional 8–9 months. To achieve extended protection, you can spray the product on using the fine spray method and allow it to dry, achieving a dry film thickness of approx. 3–5 µm.Caution: Continuous washing in automated car washes negatively impacts the coating's longevity, as the aggressive abrasive action of the brushes gradually wears down and scratches the coating!

TO CONSIDER

Emulsions and coating products need a certain period of time to bind to the surface and fully cure after application. Therefore, please check the curing time of individual products. Only this can guarantee that the product provides the desired benefits. Direct exposure of the surface to water or cleaning agents after application can significantly reduce the performance of the product properties.
